Fear of Childbirth ~ Trauma After Birth

Worried about being pregnant?  Dreading giving birth? Feeling out of control?  You're not alone!

Negative birth experience - or anticipation of it - affects mums, dads, babies and families and can put intolerable strain on an individual or a relationship.  It can all be resolved and leave you feeling in control again

Maybe you feel you could never give birth?  Maybe a previous birth (your own or someone else's) has left you feeling it's more than you could go through?  You may or may not know what is behind such thoughts and feelings.

Whether it's your first or a subsequent time, fear and anxiety can ruin the whole experience of pregnancy and childbirth - it can also affect your hormone balance and your ability to conceive.

You might be surprised to learn that trauma after childbirth is believed to affect around 10,000 women a year - often mis-diagnosed as Post Natal Depression and often not picked up at all.  Many women who suffered a traumatic birth will beat themselves up about their negative feelings - baffled as to why they feel as they do, or they are told by well-meaning friends & family to "be grateful for a healthy baby" and "you'll get over it in time"

Trained by Sheila Kitzinger in Birth Crisis - and familiar with post traumatic stress disorder as part of my hypnotherapy services - I offer broad-based understanding and support to help you resolve any issues you have about childbirth.

Call me for an informal chat, with no obligation, if you need to reach a better place in yourself before you can contemplate a pregnancy - or if you are pregnant already and find yourself dreading the birth.  It is very likely that even during this conversation you will begin to feel more comfortable and hopeful.

Knowledge is always the first step to understanding and leads ultimately to resolution.

Unhappy with how you feel about childbirth?  I can help!

Some mums only discover months after their babies are born - through mother & baby groups or chatting to friends & family - just how many women are negatively affected by childbirth and this is often the first time mums realise the're not alone in the way they feel.

FEES:

One-to-one sessions are approximately one hour - HypnoBirthing is 12.5 hours spread over 4 classes.

If you are already pregnant and have decided to commit to a course of HypnoBirthing, you are unlikely to need one to one therapy as well.  Most nervous or anxious mums feel very differently after just one class, however, you can request one to one therapy at any time during the course.
